I learned the hard way yesterday don't forget the parchment when making a layer cake.  I usually make a single layer cake so I just grease and flour the pan and I am  good to go.  Well,  yesterday I made a layer cake.  Well actually I attempted to make a layer cake then I actually made a layer cake.

In my first attempt I greased and floured the pans and the when the cake was ready to come out it refused.  Well, at least in one piece.

In the second attempt I greased and floured only the sides and used parchment paper for the bottom.   The cake this time easily came out of the pans.  I was able to finish the cake and Crystal took it to work today.

Crystal just emailed me and it appears that no one was poisoned or suffered ill effects from the cake.
